In our Division, Sign Language Interpreters  communicate with and interpret for deaf and hard of hearing students that sign using either American Sign Language or Signed Exact English.Â
This course is for students who have successfully completed American Sign Language (ASL) Basic Levels I-IV, providing a review before taking the ASL Basic Level Mastery Exam.
Here at Carleton we have a strong ASL program.
American Sign Language (ASL) is the third most popular foreign language, leading third in language course enrolments in post-secondary institutions in the U.S. after Spanish and French, according to Modern Language Association (2016).
Students learn to handle basic every day communication.
