This short 8-week course will provide an overview of CAD software and its applications in engineering and will cover the fundamental concepts and techniques required to create basic 3D models.
This course is designed for learners with little or no prior experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
This short 8-week course will provide an overview of CAD software and its applications in engineering and will cover the fundamental concepts and techniques required to create basic 3D models.
The course will begin by introducing you to the basics of 3D CAD software (Autodesk Fusion 360), including an overview of the user interface and fundamental tools.
You will then be introduced to the concepts of 3D modelling, including 2D drawing, creating basic shapes, extrusions, and revolves. You will also learn how to manage files and organise models within the software.
From there, we will cover topics such as components and assemblies. You will learn how to create basic assemblies by combining multiple parts and how to manipulate and edit these assemblies.
By the end of the course, students will have a basic foundation in 3D Computer-Aided Design and be able to create basic models for various engineering applications.
Each year the college provides education and training to some 14,000 full and part-time students (including 4,000 apprentices) across all major industry sectors from entry level to level 5.
The college’s £50 million redevelopment has now reached completion, which means new buildings, new facilities and new opportunities. Students learn in state-of-the-art facilities, with industry-standard equipment, allowing them to hone their skills for employment.
At college, we embrace and encourage all those who are driven to better themselves, achieve their goals and reach new heights. Outstanding resources combined with exceptional teachers and student support means that whatever your ambition, we can help you to achieve it.
This course covers the essentials of 3D design for new users of Autodesk Fusion360
Autodesk Fusion 360 provides a single cloud-based platform that you can use to carry out all aspects of product development, from design and testing, through to simulation and fabrication.
This training course is designed to introduce you to Autodesk Fusion 360, an indispensable tool that you can access both in our FabLab and from the comfort of your home.
This three day training course will instruct students in the best usage and approaches for the parametric design philosophy through a hands-on, practice intense curriculum.
Fusion 360 pieces of training will provide the skills necessary to develop basic knowledge of environment management, 3D modelling, assembly connections and many other stills key for 3D printing.
