The NZAMD syllabus designed for students aged 9 years and up was created by Anne Dewey.
CSSD opened in 1991 with approximately 8 students, offering jazz classes only.
It soon expanded to tap, then hip hop, contemporary and most recently acro dance.
Classes are normal for all students, but no parents/spectators – please drop off/pick up your dancer(s). Dancers please remember to hand sanitize when you go in and out of the studio.
In 2016 we celebrated twenty-five years of dance. We started with jazz classes only and have since progressed into tap, hip hop, contemporary and acrobatic. Our classes are all about fun and enjoyment for ages 4 to 100.
We teach the New Zealand Association of Modern Dance (NZAMD) and Dance New Zealand Made (DNZM) Contemporary syllabus for pre grade to advanced students.
A fun, casual environment where students will learn technique and different choreography throughout the term. Students in these classes do not sit examinations.

The levels are made up of a series of exercises including including; plié and spine articulation, port de bras, swings and suspension, rolling progression, travelling progressions, floor sequences, turns, leaps, compositions and dances.
