Contemporary has become a very popular style due to various TV dance shows. Contemporary can blend Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance forms and Hip Hop technique with a focus on inner expression.
Designed for the dancer who wants a more introspective dance style that can also improve technique, flexibility and strength. Different teachers will have different styles and methods, we always suggest new dancers try a class first to find the class that speaks to them.
Contemporary differs from Modern Dance in that there is no strict adherence to any one technique style such as Cunningham, Graham, Limon etc.

GDC offers classes in preschool movement, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Creative Movement, Contemporary, Funk, Jazz Funk, Musical Theater Jazz, Choreography, Character, Modern Dance and Adult Ballet.
We specialize in introducing dance to children ages 2-6 with our FUNdamentals of Dance early education program, to children ages 5-18 with our syllabus driven classes, and to children ages 11-18 with our Teen Accelerated Learning Program (TAL). GDC also offers workshops, summer classes and summer camps for ages 4.5-7, 8-10 and 11-18 and adult classes.

Join fan-favorite faculty for a technique driven and expressive contemporary class. These classes are designed for intermediate/advanced level dancers and typically include a warm up and class combination.
Contemporary and lyrical are two extraordinarily expressive forms of dance, which is why we sometimes teach them in a combined class at DanceHouse Miami. Unlike other styles, lyrical and contemporary dance have few rules and restrictions. This is what makes them such a joy to perform and to watch.
Advanced students over age 10 may be invited to study the newest genre embraced by formally trained dancers. Â Core work fall and recovery, expressive musicality, speed changes, effort/shape work, creativity, versatility in embodying different choreographic styles.
Contemporary class blends elements of Ballet and Modern dance. This class builds and teaches freedom of expression, interpretation of music, principles of fall and recovery, control, breathing, and balance. Our Contemporary classes teach a variety of styles (e.g., Horton, Graham, Limon)
