“A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet in order to strive to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements”
Contemporary is one of the most beautiful and emotive dance forms in the world of dance. This genre has grown in popularity world wide as it allows students connect their emotions with their movement and performance to produce an awe inspiring piece of performing art.
Once a week you can join a Contemporary class at a level of your
dance ability.
Our Contemporary classes are 60 minutes long.
Glam Dance Company is a place where children of all ages shapes and sizes learn to dance and perform. This is a studio where creativity, individuality and self-expression are encouraged and has a community of teachers, students and families who are passionate about performing arts.
Our goal is to create a positive and happy experience for all our students. We strive to nurture and develop talent, celebrate the achievements of all students and inspire a love and appreciation of all styles of dance and the arts. We are committed to providing a safe and positive environment in which all students can feel empowered, comfortable and free to express themselves.
In these one hour long classes we warm-up, work on some basic techniques and skills from that specific style (eg. Contemporary or Hip Hop), learn a short routine and end with stretching.
We offer wedding dance classes for couples in Latin, Ballroom and social styles of dancing, including the choreography of the dance. No two couples are the same, so we also tailor your dance to your skill and personality – making it easy to learn and remember, but also BIG on the WOW-factor!
The base of the class will be the Horton Technique, as well as Brigitte Reeve-Taylor’s Turns & Leaps training, combined with massage technique derived from the Lisa Howell flexibility programme.
Modern Dance is the big umbrella under which various dance styles fall – each of which we incorporate in our classes (Jazz, Show Dance, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Lyrical dance) to name a few.
This style uses modern dance and ballet techniques with intensified attack focus and timing. A blend of twists, tensions, spirals and balletic elongated lines are introduced. Ground work is often utilized and turn in of the legs
