This course is a ten-week introductory program to Contemporary Dance. Some dance experience is necessary but maybe in other dance areas.
The programme employs a range of techniques including release designed to build strength, technical development, and movement confidence.
Students can also expect to improve balance, posture and alignment, through movement sequences and technical exercises that develop over the programme period
The lesson lasts for approximately one hour and is generally run on Saturday afternoons.
How are the courses assessed?
We have been in operation for over sixteen years at the same location.
All of our teachers are experienced and trained dancers. We provide performing opportunities and access to performance jobs once you are a member.
Non-members can book individual courses on a six-week block basis. Try before you buy: join the club for one day and see how the club functions on a daily basis.

Contemporary is a style of dance that combines elements of ballet, modern, lyrical and jazz. It stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict nature of classical ballet.

Contemporary classes are offered by Dance Discovery. The main aim of the dance school is fun and enjoyment while working towards RAD & ISTD exams throughout the year. We also have various performance opportunities which we encourage pupils to attend.
Contemporary is great for losing weight, maintaining strong bones, improving posture and muscle strength, increasing balance and co-ordination and beating stress.
This is an expressive dance form which combines elements of ballet, jazz and lyrical .It explores feelings and creativity in Dance.
