Course Details

Class begins with a structured, progressive warm-up that emphasizes technique and flexibility. Following warm-up, class moves into choreography that is dynamic and energized - be prepared to get moving, and to let that tension go!

Choreography emphasizes moving with a freeness of the upper body, specifically focusing on the fluidity of the head, neck, and spine. Style incorporates classic jazz techniques and lines with more contemporary based movement and release.

  • Originally from Salt Lake City Utah, Marli Hughes has been dancing since age 5 at The Dance Project. She has training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, and other urban styles. Dancing competitively with her studio, she was on the Cottonwood High School Drill team for 4 years. She danced pre-professionally with Divinity Dance Company for 2 years, and contemporary company "Expansion" for 2 years. She then went on to dance professionally and submit original choreography with all-styles company "Underground Crew", assisting in directing their 2017 production, "Chain Reaction". She had the opportunity to dance in the original production of "Urban Fairytalez" under the direction of Laila Hardman, Megan Adelsberger and Marc Alexanda. Marli has worked with hundreds of drill team members through "Epic Productions" in Utah and Las Vegas. She has choreographed award winning routines for studios and Drill Teams across the state, and has has a passion for mentoring students through the art and discipline of dance.
