It can be very emotive lending itself to being used to portray stories told in the art form of contemporary dance.
SDA’s Performing Arts Qualifications, Affiliations and Registrations include Acrobatic Dance Association, Australasian Dance Australia, Australian Guild of Music Education, Australian Teachers of Dancing, British Ballet Organisation, Glenn Wood Tap and State Dance Association, we are also a member of Audance NSW and World Dance Alliance Asia Pacific.
SDA holds all the necessary insurances for students and teachers through Danceusrance. SDA’s success is measured by the success of its students and teachers.
This style works with the body’s natural lines and energy, and dancers develop a greater range and fluidity of movement.
This class is open to students 8 years and above. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class to be eligible to enrol in contemporary.
We have combined these two beautiful styles of dance to assure we are building technique in students, while teaching our students to find the emotional connection in dance.
Contemporary dance combines strong and controlled movements of ballet and modern dance. Contempory also strongly involves a free feeling in the torso. Our classes include floor work, contract and release, fall and recovery, along with improvisation movements.
We have brought the ballet element BACK to Backstreet and mixing it up with our contemporary classes! Ballet is the Godparent of dance and it’s full of tradition and format.
