During the Cosmetology program you will study haircutting, artistry in hairstyling, color, texture, makeup applications, hair removal, skin care facials, body treatments*, natural nail care, nail enhancements*, business development, and retail sales knowledge.
Cutting:
Students will study and perform 16 Aveda Certified haircuts during this phase. You will not only acquire a comprehensive understanding of the ergonomics behind great hair design, but you will also be introduced to the Aveda Service Cycle which will carry you through your career.
Chemicals:
During this phase, students study Aveda color formulation and a range of chemical services. In conjunction with a strong emphasis on both color theory and chemical services, you will learn how to combine haircutting, chemical services, and color skills to create full-service results for guests.
Nails:
Cosmetology students will learn about the anatomy of nails and how to perform natural nail manicures and pedicures as well as a skill set which includes shellac application and nail art. At our Portland Campus students will also be introduced to the art of nail forming.
Esthiology:
Student will learn about various skin types, conditions, and remedies. By the end of the Esthiology phase, you will be able to conduct skin analysis, perform facials customized for specific skin care concerns, and provide full-body hair removal. At our Portland Campus, students will also be introduced to body treatments in addition to makeup applications.
Styling:
This phase culminates in a photo shoot which will feature the styling skills you learn in this phase. You will be provided with a professional image which can be added to your portfolio. You will also receive Aveda Product knowledge during this phase.
Aveda Certified Educators continuously hone their skills by attending advanced education and certification in order to bring consistent and relevant education to you.
Customizable Color Line allows students to develop a deeper understanding of color theory as the Aveda color line is fully customizable.
Each school or licensed instructor will require each student to obtain 250 total hours of training before the student performs clinical services on a client.
