Founded by the iconic cricketing legend Gary Kirsten, Gary had a vision to develop an internationally recognised cricket academy that would be based at a state-of-the art facility.
This vision became a reality when the academy was launched, providing high-performance cricket coaching that not only caters for South African cricketers, but also for cricketers from around the world.
Many international cricketers join the GKC academy during their off season to ensure that they sharpen their game and continually get access to the top coaches.
The club was founded back in the 1890’s and is one of the oldest cricket clubs in South Africa. We are still to this day primarily a cricket club with 5 senior teams taking part in the Western Province Leagues.
When I started playing Cricket from the young age of 3, I realised Cricket is my passion. From there I went from strength to strength and ended up playing First Team Cricket at the age of 14.
The Durbanville Cricket Club was started 1942, ceased to function towards the end of WWII and was restarted 1954/55 at the old fields in Queen Street. Today you will find a residential complex.
The club felt it’s time we have our own identity and independence and focus on the awareness of LSEN (Learners with Special Educational Needs) which includes the Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Intellectually Impaired and Physically Impaired.
Cricket coaching classes are offered by Cape Town Cricket Club.
