Although the Pinelands Cricket Club was established in 1934, on 13 September to be exact – it is interesting to record that at a meeting held on 9 April 1926 of the Board of Directors of Garden Cities.
The Housing Association which established the garden city, consideration was given to the construction of a cricket fields on the planned recreation centre. In December of that year a layout was prepared for a sports complex to include hockey fields, croquet courts and cricket and football pitches.
Due to a shortage of funds and lack of interest no further action was taken until February 1929 when the earthworks and leveling of the site was undertaken at a cost of £900.
This first field is part of the site of The Oval. The records show that throughout 1926 to 1932 various attempts were made to establish a cricket club but these came to nought and those interested joined other clubs in the Cape Peninsula.
When I started playing Cricket from the young age of 3, I realised Cricket is my passion. From there I went from strength to strength and ended up playing First Team Cricket at the age of 14.
MA Cricket Services aims to support cricketers as they develop to reach their full potential. To reach their full potential, it is important that cricketers develop sound technique, good tactical thinking, and be able to problem solve on their own when out in the middle.
The club was founded back in the 1890’s and is one of the oldest cricket clubs in South Africa. We are still to this day primarily a cricket club with 5 senior teams taking part in the Western Province Leagues.
Cricket coaching classes are offered by Cape Town Cricket Club.
The club felt it’s time we have our own identity and independence and focus on the awareness of LSEN (Learners with Special Educational Needs) which includes the Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Intellectually Impaired and Physically Impaired.
