Improve your skills of visual expression and communication through the act of Drawing. In the course we will experiment with various drawing media and examine the Principles and Elements of Design through conceptual and observational drawing.
In this class, we will focus on the how and why of landscape painting. Students will improve their composition skills, understand the importance of simplification of shapes and masses, learn about values, atmospheric perspective, create a center of interest, the use of edges, drawing and color.
Master the effects of glowing skin, soft shadows, silky hair and unforgettable eyes! Learn to use traditional oil painting technique of XVII century, leading your work from the grisaille underpainting to glazes.
Through instructor guided exercises you’ll be introduced to alla prima methods that help develop concentration, improve decision making while exploring the fundamentals of color, composition and paint application.
In Introduction to Drawing at the AMUA, we will be utilizing the formal principles of design to learn how to draw. The first half of the semester, we will use only black, gray and white; and in the second, we will begin to use color.
