This course is designed as an introduction for beginners and as a refresher for more experienced artists, allowing you to devote time each week to your art in a friendly, encouraging atmosphere.
We create the illusion of space and distance with the basic marks and shapes: the line, the sphere, the cube, the cylinder and the helix. We explore tonality; various forms of perspective, composition, texture and using our imagination.
Each week there will be: tutor demonstrations; visual presentations; reference books; and a still life or other arrangement to draw, with emphasis on the natural world.
Exercises will have options at different levels, so beginners can gain confidence, building essential skills and more experienced artists can develop their art, take a fresh approach and meet challenges. We will do this using traditional drawing methods including graphite, charcoal and pen and ink.
Artist’s quality drawing materials and equipment are included in the course fee. However students may like to bring their own A3 visual diary.
We are committed to creating an educational atmosphere that makes learning an exciting experience. Our short courses are intended to empower adult learners to tackle challenges and take on experiences that may be new to them while keeping learning fun and dynamic.
