The class is small and allows your tutor plenty of time to give advice and show techniques that will help you gain a successful result. Choose a pattern according to your previous abilities, bare in mind this is a short course of only 12 hours so simple dresses, tops and bottoms would be best.
Skill level- If you know how to use a sewing machine and have completed small craft projects and simple dressmaking you will be at a skill level to partake in this course. Please bare in mind your ability when choosing your pattern. As with all projects some take longer than others so you may wish to finish off at home.
Aims Of The Course:
obbin Sewing School was set up by two ladies with passions for craft in Winchester at the beginning of 2012. It has gently evolved and in 2014 was taken over by Alison Warner who is keen to keep the same friendly format that is key to the Bobbin image.
Develop your technical skills of using embroidery to create stitch art in a contemporary way. Explore your thinking of textiles and embroidery and gain skills through embroidery techniques, textile materials and a variety of subject matter.
During this 1 day workshop, I will teach you all the skills needed for you to create a lovely Stretch Jersey Tube Dress, with your choice of sleeve length and the option of a scoop or ‘V’ neckline. Working from a pattern drafted by me.
During this four-week course you will be shown how to read a pattern, measure & cut your fabric to suit the required size, inserting sleeves, waistbands, and zips. There will be plenty of time to practice on the samples provided.
Our one-to-one tuition classes caters to all needs. Whether you are an absolute beginner interested in learning how to use a sewing machine or a more experienced sewer in search of sessions to refresh and develop your existing skills or complete a project, we can help.
Together we'll make a pair of fingerless mitts, learning all the basics of knitting along the way: how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off as well as seaming and weaving in the ends of your finished project.
