Class sizes are kept small to ensure everyone has plenty of attention and guidance and there may be a small amount of homework required each week.
By the end of this course you will have a fabulous made to measure dress, skirt, trousers, jacket etc. and will be able to follow a dress making pattern to make many more clothes for yourself.
The Edinburgh Sewcial Club opened its doors in 2014 teaching dressmaking, sewing and other textiles crafts to people of all ages, levels of ability and experience in evening and weekend classes.
Due to the success of the business in January 2017 The Edinburgh Sewcial Club expanded into a new larger studio to accommodate more students after all its not just about learning new skills its also about meeting other creative folks and being ‘sewcial’!
During this four-week course you will be shown how to read a pattern, measure & cut your fabric to suit the required size, inserting sleeves, waistbands, and zips. There will be plenty of time to practice on the samples provided.
Dressmaking classes are offered by Crafty Trading for all ages and skill level.
Is it time to sort out your craft bag so you can find the right size needles and keep them all together – then you may like to learn how to make your own Knitting Needle Wrap? A fabulous range of fabrics will be provided cut out and ready for you to sew.
Getting to know your sewing machine, taking you through the basics of setting up and working a sewing machine. You will practice setting up your machine and using different stitches and feet, finishing off by making a small tote bag with button closure.
You will need to be experienced with different machines + sewing. We will learn you how to measure for curtains and roman blinds and take you step by step through the making.
