The school provides Ministry of Education subsidised group music lessons for primary and intermediate age school students and a range of non-subsidised music lessons for all age groups.
Since 1963 our music school has been offering a range of instrumental tuition options, as well as the opportunity to gain ensemble and orchestral experience.
In 2018 the music school in conjunction with the primary school opened a new music classroom.
This has allowed the school to increase a range of options for children and adults to learn a music instrument.
Marshall Laing Music School has been providing outstanding music lessons and music education since 1963.
We deliver Saturday morning group music lessons for primary and intermediate age school students.
Our new After School music classes are for all school-age students.
Based in Mount Roskill, Auckland we serve the local communities of Mt Roskill, Blockhouse Bay, Mt Albert, Avondale, Hillsborough, Three Kings, New Windsor, Lynfield, Green Bay and Sandringham.
The percussion family is thought to include the oldest musical instruments – anything that creates sound by being struck or scraped by a beater – and are characterised by providing rhythm.
The drums are a fun instrument to play and master. They are quite complex so we recommend children start one-on-one lessons from the age of seven and a half.

Drums classes are offered by Crawshaw Music School. We are currently the largest provider of one on one lessons on the Kapiti Coast.
Students are taught drum notation and should have basic music reading ability. 1 drum kit is provided in class only. We recommend students purchase a practice pad to allow them to practice at home, these are available from your local music store.Â
