The first thing you'll learn is how to play rhythms between the right and left hand clearly. In order to do that, you will learn how to properly hold the drumsticks.
How the drumsticks are held will effect a range of things from, speed, sound, comfort and even avoiding minor injuries (that's right, you can hurt yourself!).
To get a good feel for handling the sticks, you will need a consistent practice of 15-120 mins a day. Working on control of the sticks will also give you an introduction to reading music.
Learning to read will begin to feed your imagination with a vocabulary of rhythms and stimulate creative ideas. Learning the language of rhythm helps us to understand and decipher the music we enjoy listening to.

Bringing music instruction to our local communities, our studios provide top-notch lesson rooms with high-quality pianos, drum sets, guitar amps, and other musical equipment and rentals. Our teachers also offer private music lessons in homes across Philly and the Mainline.
Our teachers are encouraged to bring their own creativity and teaching style to lessons, as it is our belief and experience that a flexible curriculum allows both students and teachers to seek the best path for learning.
With an array of schooled musicians, many of whom work professionally in the field, our lessons are high-quality and will prepare students for a path in music.
With many modern applications for music and endless reasons to take lessons, we encourage our teachers and students to work together to achieve goals in creative and stimulating ways.
Our teachers can prep children and teens for a professional path in music, or can teach music for fun to all ages. We strongly value the importance of learning fundamental musical skills, concepts, and traditional techniques, as it is our goal to leave students with the tools for greater, creative musical expression.
