This allows energy collected via Renewable Storages to be stored using battery storage systems, allowing consumers to use this off grid and be energy independent for periods of time.
The EAL Design, Install and Commission of EESS is a new qualification and can be taken in addition to the EAL Small Scale Solar Level 3 also offered by Birmingham Electrical Training. This qualification covers the knowledge, understanding and the skills associated with design, specification, installation, inspection, testing and commission and handover of electrical energy storage systems.
Please note, unlike other Battery Storage courses, the EAL Qualification doesn’t have an expiry date and therefore there is no requirement to redo the course every few years.
Candidate Requirements:
This qualification is aimed at competent electricians who wish to demonstrate they have the skills associated with EESS.
Candidates should ideally have a good working knowledge of BS7671 18th Edition and it may be advantageous to have completed either a Level 3 Test and Inspection Qualification or Solar PV Course, although this is not a requirement.
Course Content:
Understand the Statutory Legislation applicable to EESS
Understand the principles of batteries and EESS
Understand how to specific and design an EESS
Understand how to specify and design EESS
Understand the requirements for Installation, Inspection and testing, and handover of an EESS
Install, Commission and Handover an EESS Installation
Birmingham Electrical Training (BET) was founded in 1991 by a group of local electrical contractors as an organisation dedicated to assisting young people in the West Midlands to gain access to the electrical industry and also provide local electrical contractors with a dedicated high quality apprenticeship training provider.
BET support over 300 apprentices, and in the 2019-20 academic year achieved an overall achievement rate of 78%, this percentage is above the national average for the last year..
We work and organise electrical apprenticeships with local electrical contractors who provide employment and ‘on the job training’, which contributes evidence for their NVQ logbook. ‘Off the job’ training is delivered at our dedicated training centre in Birmingham by our dedicated team of tutors and training officers.
BET and its staff has a commitment to providing the best quality training for the next generation of local and national electricians by uniquely providing electrical apprenticeships that are the recognised form of entry into the electrical industry.
BET believes that it provides the young person a good grounding and the relevant industry approved education providing the help and support through the transition from school education to a successful career in the electrical industry. We also offer commercial training in the installation and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment, upscaling courses for electricians.
The NVQ is achieved via work/site based assessment and portfolio building and AM2. Full support and guidance from an Able Skills NVQ Assessor will be provided and readily available throughout. NVQ Level 3 is a requirement for those looking to achieve JIB Gold Card status.
The course will enable you to plan and prepare safe installation, test, commission, and handover grid connected solar photovoltaic and battery storage systems.
If you wish to apply for this programme, please note that spaces are highly competitive and this course is at capacity, please be aware you will automatically be added to a waiting list.
This course completes the required element to underpin an apprenticeship in electrical installation. It is a valuable course which increases employability within the Building Services industry.
In July 2018, the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations were replaced by the 18th Edition BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations, which had an impact on anyone installing, testing or maintaining electrical systems.…
