The course focuses on developing the hands-on use of tools and components to complete real installations, and develops students' theoretical knowledge of the underpinning maths and science which explain how these systems work.
On this course, learners can advance their understanding of the techniques and practices used within the Electrical and Building Service industries. Learners practise the installation of domestic (240V) and industrial (up to 10,000V) wiring and electrical components including circuit breakers, consumer units, lighting and power circuits, in accordance with industry standard regulations.

Our Study Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and Maths skills as required. You may be expected to complete either functional skills or GCSE qualifications as part of your course depending on your GCSE results.
This course includes the opportunity to take part in an industry placement in a sector relevant to your qualification and study programme. The placement will take place 1 or 2 days per week on the days when you are not in college studying. Industry placements are designed to give you the skills to start work at the end of your studies, progress into an apprenticeship, or to add to your UCAS statement.

This course has been designed to give both practical hands on skills and an understanding of the electrical industry with some health and safety for the construction industry also included.
This City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) qualification is for individuals who want to work as electricians in the building services engineering sector. This qualification does not make candidates fully qualified electricians.
