The Electrocardiography (EKG/ECG) program prepares graduates for entry-level positions as EKG/ECG Technicians in a variety of healthcare settings, including clinics and hospitals. Graduates will be equipped to measure vital signs, perform electrocardiograms (ECGs/EKGs), and assist with patient care.
This course meets the curriculum requirements of the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Health Career Association (NHA), and the New York State Education Department. It prepares students for the NHA Certified EKG Technician (CET) certification. The program combines both theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical training.
The curriculum covers essential topics such as basic cardiovascular terminology, anatomy, and physiology, with a strong focus on the proper placement of EKG leads and equipment maintenance to ensure accurate results. Students will also learn to recognize cardiac arrhythmias and understand the role and responsibilities of an EKG technician. The clinical laboratory component provides practical experience to develop the skills necessary for success in the field.
This program is also available as continuing education or professional development for those already working in the medical field, allowing them to expand their expertise and advance in their careers.
