As with our junior school, Emerald dancers take one ballet class a week, along with their choice of tap, jazz, contemporary and lyrical. Traditionally our emerald dancers take 3 or 4 styles of dance with us.
The Emerald Gemstone is the third tier of our gemstone curriculum and the first of our senior school. Dancers are invited into the emerald stream when they reach highschool. As with our junior school, Emerald dancers take one ballet class a week, along with their choice of tap, jazz, contemporary and lyrical. Traditionally our emerald dancers take 3 or 4 styles of dance with us.
Emerald dancers are invited to continue their ballet exam journey in this stream with R.A.D. extension classes being offered, as well as our competitive extension stream. Dancers who compete at this level often take part in various eisteddfods throughout the year as their schedule allows.
As our Emerald dancers reach 14 they are able to apply for our assistant teacher training program. This program is open by application only and is coordinated by Alisa, the Director of Elite Dance.
The story of Elite Dance began in 1994, when we started from scratch as Lamott School of Dance. Our love of dance education has seen us grow into a thriving and respected dance school in our community. In 2006, Lorraine Blackburn, one of the founding teachers of the studio took the reins exclusively and we were renamed to Elite Dance, reflective of the type of instruction we offer.
At Elite Dance, we endeavour to give our students the encouragement and support needed to reach their dance goals. No student is left out during performances and all our young dancers are given the opportunity to show their progress to family and friends.
Dance is a wonderful pastime to be enjoyed by all ages. It teaches a range of disciplines that can be used throughout a student’s lifetime. Our dedicated and qualified teachers and caring attitude allows our students to flourish and develop into confident and disciplined dancers.
Students are given the very best in dance education, we employ a policy of limited class sizes to ensure our students receive valuable and enriching classes and receive maximum benefit from our teachers’ expertise. We aim to keep our lessons as convenient as possible for parents and our dance timetables are scheduled to run alongside the public school terms.
No classes finish later than 8:30pm and all classes are taught by responsible adults. We know how important your children are and Elite Dance prides itself on always using age appropriate music, costumes and choreography.
Ballet stretches are an essential part of training in this form of dance. Not only stretching, but stretching correctly, can improve your performance now and extend your dancing life for years.
Each class will start at the barre’ and then move into the centre. Ask any professional Jazz/Contemporary/Hip Hop dancer and they will advise to take Classical Ballet.
All children should be encouraged to do Ballet to give them the best technically based start to dance. Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D) syllabus is used and exams are offered but are not compulsory.
Our ballet classes give adult students an opportunity to work with the Royal Academy of Dance Graded Syllabus and to participate in open ballet classes that focus on the foundations of classical ballet technique and safe dance practice.
Barre fitness is a hybrid workout style that combines ballet-inspired movements with elements of dance, yoga, pilates and strength training.
