The physical and health benefits of taking ballet classes include; greater core strength, improved posture, better fitness and flexibility and an increase in agility, balance, co-ordination and stamina. This will have numerous benefits for the day-to-day challenges of regular adult life. The physicality involved will also help to maintain a healthy body weight and BMI, which typically becomes more difficult as we age.
It’s also worth noting, that there are numerous psychological benefits involved with participation in cultural arts and dancing which include; the development of healthy adult friendships, confidence and boosted self-esteem.
Our adult students are treated as any other student within Newcastle Dance Academy and will be taught from a program adapted to their needs and abilities.
Newcastle Dance Academy is owned by Tracy Caldwell and Roxanne McCourtie.
We purchased a small studio in 1996 with 10 weeks of the year to go, we rented church halls and continued to grow and move around locations until 1999 when we moved to the Hobart Road premises. The June 2007 floods, like many people, caused much devastation to the property.
We managed to battle on, but it was time for new premises. We purchased the Broadmeadow Glass and Aluminium building at the end of 2008 and in 2009 we opened the doors to the 5 studio purpose built complex that is now home to around 200 students.
We aim to provide the very best advice to the parents on quality dance education and the very best teaching available. Our staff are wonderful professionals in the industry and we create a warm and friendly environment for everyone.
Our staff are fully qualified with Royal Academy of Dance. We are consistently learning and studying under the CPD (continual professional development) program provided by the RAD.
Our motivation comes from the passion we share as educators and the environment we create for delivering the best possible learning environment for young children. Newcastle Dance Academy is a child safe organisation with all staff having their Working with Children check.
