Target Audience
All staff in a variety of settings across Housing, Health and Social Care who have been designated as the Emergency First Aider at Work.
A risk assessment of first aid needs may identify the need for Emergency First Aiders in the workplace as an addition to First Aider. In some circumstance Emergency First Aiders at work are sufficient to deal with First Aid situations that occur within their workplaces, and in accordance with policy, to gain support from emergency services if required.
This award satisfies the requirements of the Regulatory Body for First Aid - the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and HSENI (Northern Ireland).
After attendance at this course learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with emergency first aid cover that provides treatment to the people they support and their employees in a prompt, safe and effective manner and within the roles and responsibilities of their job role.
Assessment & Certification
Assessment of learning is ongoing throughout the course by the instructor through discussion, questioning, individual and group activities, practical work, observations and a multiple-choice questions paper.
This course is fully accredited and on successful completion, learners will receive a certificate valid for 3 years from our awarding body.
It is a recommendation by the HSE and HSENI, that the learners consider an annual 3 hour refresher.
This course is delivered using a range of methods and resources including:
Face to Face tutor facilitation, questionnaires, scenarios for breakout groups, questioning and participation, videos and practical use of first aid box, manikins and an AED, and an end of session assessment.
