The purpose of the energy control program is to ensure that, whenever the possibility of an unexpected machine or equipment start-up exists or when the unexpected release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the equipment is isolated from its energy source and rendered inoperative prior to servicing.

Safety Resources, Inc.’s Lockout/Tagout Program is a program consisting of several elements; that together, contribute to your facility and/or company’s documented procedures, employee training and implementation.

 

Elements of the Safety Resources, Inc. program include:

  • OSHA Requirements (29 CFR 1910.147)
  • Statement on how the procedure will be used
  • Procedural steps needed to:
  • Shut down
  • Isolate
  • Block
  • Secure machines or equipment
  • Steps designating the safe placement, removal, & transfer of lockout/tagout devices and who has responsibility.
  • Specific requirements for testing machines or equipment to determine the effectiveness of locks, tags, and other energy control measures.
  • Exceptions – Alternative Protection
  • Authorized Employees, Affected Employees and all other employees
