Build My English was started in August 2012, by Richard Rose. He was an ESL teacher at West Valley Occupational Center (WVOC) and other adult schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He saw that these schools focused on grammar and that the classes were so large that students didn’t get enough personal attention.
Grammar is important. It gives students the structure they need to learn. However, children don’t learn English by taking grammar classes. They learn by speaking. Adults hear them speak and correct them when necessary. That is how children improve.
All of our  English classes are instructor-led, meaning you will be learning with a native English speaking instructor.
This ESL program is designed for international students who wish to become fully fluent or pursue higher education in the USA.
The Ideal Program uses the General English course. The General English course has 8 levels that focus on improving conversation skills. Each level takes 16 weeks to complete.
Whether you feel you don’t have enough vocabulary to express your mind or you have trouble understanding locals, general English course is your choice.
This program is composed of listening/speaking, reading/vocabulary, and grammar/writing classes. The ESL program is ideal for students who want to improve their general English skills.
