The International Center is the ESOL department of Catholic Charities Community Services in New York City. We offer English language classes, skills workshops, cultural programs, & social services to immigrants.
Refugees, students, & other newcomers to the United States. Each year, with the help of our dedicated volunteers, our programs serve hundreds of learners from all backgrounds, cultures, & identities.
Our English Language + Literacy Program (EL+LP)Â provides immigrants and refugees the chance to thrive in their new country by offering free one-on-one tutoring and life-skills-based conversation classes.
The TOEFL test preparation course is for students who are determined to have advanced skills based on Excel’s placement exam.
During this course, learners will participate in class discussions, do group work with classmates, practice pronunciation, learn reading and writing skills, and explore themes and topics in order to develop intercultural competence.
The Test Preparation Program focuses its coursework on introducing and refining the specific skills students need to prepare for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
 Our small class, intensive study approach allows students to master language skills in a communicative environment.
