Firearms Safety Training Course for Security Officers (Category H)

Course Outline:

This course is for people in Security who wish to work in the Armed Cash Escort industry and in other fields where they will be required to carry a Category ‘H’ handgun as part of their employment.

Course Subjects

• Justification for the Use of a Firearm

• Operational Survival

• Firearm Safety

• Firearm Functions

• Semi-automatic Pistols

• Weapon Maintenance

• Fundamentals of Shooting

Unit of Competency

• Upon successful completion of the course you will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the CPPSEC3116 Carry, operate and maintain semi-automatic pistols for security purposes unit of competency.

Course Assessment

• The course consists of both theory and practical assessments.

Course Delivery and Duration:

Classes are conducted over 2 days. Both days run from 8.30am to 4pm. All students are required to be present 15 minutes before course commencement time. Late arrivals may be refused from the course as a failure to attend.

Training occurs at Eagle Training Services training facilities located in Darwin and Alice Springs.

Students are supported through the provision of high quality learning materials and resources.
