The course is designed to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, Approved Code of Practice L74 which requires that where a First Aider is not legally required, an employer must still appoint a person to take charge of first aid provision, and this course provides that person with the necessary knowledge to do so.
Where appropriate the severity of many accidents in the workplace can be reduced by the appointment of a qualified appointed person who is capable of taking charge if an injury or illness occurs. BSS aim is to ensure that they understand first aid rather than just learning by rote, because they are more likely to do what is required when it is required for real.
