Adults in Section Leader roles or Manager and Supporter roles are required to hold a First Response (Scouting) certificate or a First Aid certificate (where the training is delivered by a reputable body and which covers the syllabus required by The Scout Association).
The Area has three options for First Response training and you can choose the option which meets your preferred learning style.
This option is a mix of training via e-learning, a theory plus session and practical assessment. When you have completed all three parts you will be issued with a First Response certificate.
Part 1 – First Response e-learning Please ensure you click the Cardiff and Vale link at the end of the e-learning training.
Part 2 and Part 3 – the First Response Theory Plus (Part 2) and the life support with practical assessment (Part 3) are run together in one 2 ½ hour face to face session.
This option is a mix of training via e-learning, Zoom and practical assessment (face to face). When you have completed all three parts you will be issued with a First Response certificate.

Part 2 – First Response Theory Plus This is training currently delivered on Zoom by Scouts Cymru.
Part 3 – Life Support. This will be delivered face to face and will include a practical assessment. This is delivered in Cardiff and the Vale and is advertised as a 2 ½ hour session. Those who have completed the zoom training with Scouts Cymru only need to attend for first part of the 2 ½ hour session.
Full 6 hour face to face training delivered on request.

The Emergency First Aid qualification is the minimum qualification required for a person appointed by an employer to take charge of First Aid arrangements. Successful delegates will receive the FAA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work.
This is a full day attendance and assessed course where you’ll learn the theory and practical skills to perform first aid until the medical professionals take over.
