This informative, hands-on 5-day course fulfils the competencies set out in the PHEM skills framework at descriptor level D, providing the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a range of prehospital emergency care situations.
This course covers administration of emergency oxygen, management of trauma patients, major illnesses and much more. Participants will learn how to handle complex injuries, medical conditions, and life-threatening emergencies. The Level 3 award in First Response Emergency Care is a perfect fit for those looking to work or volunteer as a first responder.
Course Highlights:
Review of basic first aid principles and legal considerations
Primary and secondary surveys for assessing casualties
Be able to assess and manage patients with life-threatening and nonlife-threatening illness and injuries
Recognition and management of airway and breathing emergencies
Management of an unresponsive patient who is not breathing normally
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants
Automated external defibrillator (AED) use and integration into CPR
Administration of emergency oxygen
Assessment and management of trauma patients and management of catastrophic bleeding
