  • Teacher's Experience
  • Leah has recently graduated with a 1st from the Royal Northern College of Music and is now furthering her studies at the Northern following a scholarship for a Masters in Music Performance. As a young flautist, Leah was the principal flautist of her youth orchestra (Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra) in London and during this time was also a scholar at the World Heart Beat Music Academy where she was sponsored by Gucci Timepieces and Jewellery. She has been taught by Cormac Henry, principal flautist of the RLPO for several years and has performed alongside him on the piccolo. Leah has a particular specialism for the piccolo and is the first flautist in any UK conservatoire to have a 50/50 split of lessons between flute and piccolo. She is taught the piccolo by Jenny Hutchinson (BBC Philharmonic) and Janet Richardson (Royal Scottish National Orchestra). Leah’s teaching style focuses on ensuring a positive and safe environment where her students feel relaxed, happy, encouraged and therefore able to achieve their very best. In the past, she has successfully taken her pupils through graded exams and helped them to develop a love for the flute as well as achieving high marks. It is very important to Leah that her students come out of their lessons not only feeling clear about what they should do in their practice time but also feeling excited about it!
