Award-winning Glasgow Children’s Music School is based in the West End of Glasgow, Cathcart and Milngavie. We offer early years’ adult and child classes, preschool and primary 1 music classes, musicianship classes for primary aged children as well as small group, 1:1 and 2:1 instrumental lessons for children.
All our Music Tutors are highly trained professional musicians who have many years experience teaching children and young beginners. We are a learning destination with the Children’s University Glasgow in partnership with the University of Strathclyde which recognises our Music School as a provider of high-quality musical instruction.
The whistle is one of the easiest and cheapest instruments to learn. It is also highly portable and quick to master simple yet satisfying tunes and is a good stepping stone to learning the flute. We currently offer individual (1:1) whistle or flute lessons.
The violin is a very popular instrument for children to learn. Its expressive tone suits a variety of musical styles and it is relatively inexpensive to start playing. We offer small group lessons which offer a fun, sociable and low-cost way to learn the violin.
The piano is also a very popular beginner instrument and is one of the few instruments that allows you to play the melody and accompaniment at the same time. Easy to start playing straight away, the piano also lends itself to a wide variety of musical styles from rock and pop, to jazz and classical...
The guitar is another popular choice for young beginners because it is a relatively easy and inexpensive first instrument. We offer group guitar lessons which are a fun, sociable and low-cost way to learn the guitar as well as individual (1:1) and shared (2:1) lessons.
Our classes for babies and toddlers and their parents/ carers incorporate singing, rhyming, percussion, circle games, movement, live music and creative play. Puppets, parachutes, balls, scarves and teddies are just some of the props used to stimulate and engage the children.
