The Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 Award course will provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills required to ensure food safety and maintain high standards of hygiene in a food handling or catering environment.

This course is essential for individuals working in the food industry to meet legal requirements, protect public health, and maintain customer satisfaction.

Throughout the course, participants will explore key concepts and principles related to food safety and hygiene. They will gain a deep understanding of foodborne illnesses, their causes, and methods of prevention.

Participants will also learn about the importance of personal hygiene, safe food handling practices, and effective cleaning and sanitation procedures.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. If you are working in an environment where food is prepared, cooked and handled, then this course is for you.

What Will I Study?

This course will cover:

  • food safety hazards

  • contamination of food

  • controls that can be implemented

  • the legal responsibilities of food handlers

How Will I Be Assessed?

Assessment consists of a 40-minute exam with 30 multiple choice questions.

Further Study

Many learners will also complete the Level 2 Awareness in Allergens. There is also progression opportunities to the Level 3 Supervision of Food Safety and Hygiene.
