Course Details

This course meets the qualified accreditation requirements for Fire Safety Assessment under the FPAS Accreditation Scheme for an individual that assesses hose reels, extinguishers, emergency lighting and exit signs. The course includes a Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing to comply with FPAS requirements.

 

Who is it for:

 

This course is for fire safety assessors employed in the fire protection industry who need to apply or transition to qualified accreditation as prescribed in Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS). The course will cover the accreditation requirements for the fire safety measures listed below:

  • Fire hose reel systems
  • Portable fire extinguishers
  • Emergency lighting
  • Exit Signs
  • Division 7 Miscellaneous fire safety offences

This course is for individuals who do not currently hold a certificate II or higher qualification in engineering, construction, plumbing, electrical, fire safety or property services.

 

The course provides participants with the foundation skills and knowledge to perform fire safety assessment and routine service work in the fire protection industry and covers:

  • Assessing building plans, inspecting fire safety systems and equipment and determining level of performance
  • Understanding key Australian standards, regulations and codes related to routine servicing and fire safety assessment of fire protection systems and equipment
  • Maintaining workplace health and safety
  • Ability to organise work schedules and complete tasks safely and efficiently in line with industry standards
  • Providing effective customer service including the ability to communicate issues arising from the assessment of the performance of a range of fire protection systems and equipment
  • Undertake routine service of fire systems and equipment in accordance with relevant standards including:
    •  Fire hose reel systems
    • Portable fire extinguishers
    • Emergency lighting
    • Exit Signs
