My name is Luke Hatteberg and my wife Abby and I run and own Hatteberg Woodworks & Design in my shop in Dallas, Texas. In 2012 I realized a need for a creative outlet while going through grad school. As well, my wife and I always knew that we wanted to raise our kids around making things, the arts, and engaging the world in a way that valued the beauty of handmade things.
.So we bought a table saw and some basic hand tools and I began learning the craft of woodworking, which very quickly it grew into an undeniable passion. We then launched a woodworking business, Wayfaren and in 2014 we took the leap into full-time entrepreneurship.
Over the last almost five years of running Wayfaren, I've made 8,000+ handcrafted items including dozens of custom pieces. And while I'm extremely grateful, there has been an ever deepening and insatiable desire to explore the hundreds of artistic and custom projects I've always wanted to start, most specifically custom furniture and teaching woodworking classes. This was the genesis of Hatteberg Woodworks & Design and I hope I get a chance to serve you in making the perfect custom piece for you or help begin your journey into learning the craft of woodworking.
This is the course designed for people with no prior woodworking experience. Through discussion and hands on experience you will learn about the steps necessary to begin with a rough piece of wood and finish with a small table of your own design. The class will meet for six weekly sessions.
This is the second in our classes for new and intermediate woodworkers. In this class you will have exposure to wood shop safety and the proper use of hand and stationary power tools.
Our training programs are developed so that our carpenters and millwrights meet any challenge or opportunity encountered by our employers.
This course is an introduction to the woodworking tools available for member use at Phoenix Forge. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of shop safety and procedures as well as best practices for a majority of the stationary power tools.
Professional full time sawyer Peter Peterson is welcoming us to give an amazing introduction to sawing your own lumber. Much of this will be hands-on.
