In this first level, you will learn the fundamentals of Classical Guitar Playing, the elements of Western Music Notation and basic coordination skills.
You will practice the different ways of playing: strumming, fingerstyle, and flatpicking. Simple chords are introduced and basic theory will help you navigate the musical repertoire.
Topics include:
Introduction to Western Music Notation. Rudiments of Music.
History and evolution of the guitar.
Anatomy of the guitar. Learning the open strings.
Tuning your guitar. Types of tuning.
Posture and fingering. PIMA.
The bottom three open strings: E, A, D.
Thumb stroke. Right Hand Walking Bass.
Open String Duets. First and second endings.
Top three open strings: G, B, E. i and m strokes.
Tirando and Apoyando.
Left-Hand Notes. First position.
Understanding Time Signatures.
Simple Chords. Introduction to the Caged system.
Thumb and fingers on open strings.
Chord diagrams and tabs.
Strumming techniques. Flatpicking.
