Jessy has spent 10+ years developing his teaching style to offer a wide range of guitar lessons. He has developed a curriculum that focuses on learning multiple styles of guitar in the early years, and finding what the student gravitates towards most.

Furthermore, rather than learning scales for the sole purpose of examination and exercises, his curriculum focuses on the practical application.

Be it melody writing, improvisation, or simply learning the neck of the guitar, our curriculum focuses on learning the instrument in a practical sense.

The guitar is often considered a difficult instrument to understand, and our curriculum better prepares students for things like theory application, and understanding broader musical concepts and ideas; whilst still learning the music you want to learn!

I started playing the drums in grade 3 and took 2 years of saxophone in grade 7 & 8 but my real passion started on the guitar when i was entering high school. I took my exams through the OCOM and RCM and attended Mohawk college after taking a year off to study music theory. I worked at the OCOM during high school and got a job at pongettis music when i moved to Hamilton for college. When pongettis shutdown I started work at the OCOM again for a couple years and also taught privately before starting the Hamilton Academy of Music.” I started the Academy to give students a chance to gain confidence through music and learn a skill that can help them in any aspect of life. whether its academic, emotional, or pure enjoyment music has something for everyone!
