Course Details

We need music now more than ever. The WCM is pleased to continue to offer individual instruction/private lessons throughout the year. Students can choose in person or online instruction, or a combination, depending on the individual’s needs and situation.

We’re taking COVID-19 extremely seriously, and are following all public health guidelines. Our school building is spacious, with large individual studios and common areas that will allow for appropriate social distancing. Shared instruments and surfaces are sanitized between students, and all common areas are cleaned frequently.

Teachers work one-on-one with students and are able to tailor the lesson to the student. All private instructors at the WCM hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Music and are leaders in their fields of expertise.

Registration is ongoing throughout the year. Private lessons begin September and run a maximum of 38 weeks depending upon the instructor. Lessons are thirty to ninety minutes depending on age and skill level of the individual student.

  • Jesse Popeski began learning the guitar at a young age with private instructors, continuing his education at the University of Manitoba where he received his BMus, specializing in Jazz guitar. He has been teaching either privately or in various studios for ten years, instructing everyone from young kids learning their first instrument to high school students preparing for a University audition, to adults honing their skills for a gig. Jesse performs regularly in Winnipeg as a freelance guitarist, playing in a variety of styles with cover bands and jazz groups. He is a member of the Folk trio Casati, and has toured across Canada performing with the group. Jesse is also the musical director of the Chai Folk Ensemble, who perform traditional Israeli music each year at Folklorama and other events in Winnipeg and worldwide.
