Here at SoundCheck we are excited to nurture all aspects of music, including instrumental skills! Our newly introduced Piano/Keyboard & Guitar classes are sure to give you the knowledge and confidence you need to perform on stage in a wide range of roles.

These classes are suited to anyone wanting to feature in a band, accompany singers, or write their own music. We encourage all of our singers to join an instrumental class and gain a broader understanding of music collaboration and the importance of every instrument in an ensemble.

Our instrumental teachers are not only personable and knowledgeable in the coaching aspect, but they also have a great amount of experience in a range of different music fields, and are able to guide you through songwriting, production and booking gigs.   • Tim is an Acoustic and Electric Guitar/Bass coach, situated here in Ballarat! Tim has completed extensive training in his career, having received guitar private tutelage from Josh Murphy and Shane Gilbert, and formal education from Damian Woods, Don Kirby and Bryn Hills. Currently studying Hindustani classical music under instruction of Ustad Nawab Khan in Jodhpur India, Tim shows an immense passion and knowledge for an extremely wide range of genres. With 15 years teaching and performing experience, Tim enjoys sharing his knowledge of music theory and love for all types of music with his students. Tim is a specialist in improvisation, with a long history of live performances in original bands and as a solo artist, as well as experience in studio recording and live production/event management. Tim's favourite guitarists include John Fahey, John Maclaughlin, Jimi Hendrix, Django Reinhardt, Jerry Garcia and Francisco Tarrega. Tim enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities, from beginner through to advanced, and teaches the essential skills of guitar, aiming to inspire a love of music and get students playing songs from their first lesson.
