In 2004, JCI recognized there wasn’t a curriculum out there that best addressed the changing needs of hairdressers and their clients.
By replacing outdated methods with an innovative, fresh approach, JCI was the first to launch a program that considered the future of hair: the Hair Art Design Program.
Our 6-month, hands-on program is broken down into 20 hours per week, with the option of morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend classes.
If you’re currently working, our flexible class times make retraining for a new career more doable than ever. Student loans are also available for those who qualify.
Your workspace should inspire you— our teaching salon is no exception. Located in Gastown, the salon occupies a 1,200 square foot loft-style space, putting you at the center of Vancouver’s creative and cultural hub.
The school is run exactly like a top salon, so you’ll learn how to provide clients with a professional salon experience.
As for your teachers, they are top-working professionals and guest instructors who are dialed into industry trends. They’ll help you build strong foundations in cutting, coloring, and styling so that upon graduation, you’ll have the skills and confidence to start working immediately.
This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training.
This 26-week Fashion Design program consists of in-depth theory, practical knowledge, additional open lab time and hands-on, creative projects. To ensure that your training is current and cutting edge.
We’ve teamed up with top fashion designers from Alexander McQueen, Aritzia, Lululemon, Helly Hansen, Kit and Ace, and OAK+FORT, giving you access to some of the most design-oriented minds in the city.
We asked these industry leaders what they’re looking for in recent graduates, and incorporated their wants and needs into an efficient 6-month design program. By the end of the program, you’ll showcase your debut collection to a live audience at the JCI Graduating Fashion Show.
The Louis Riel Arts & Technology Centre prepares future hairstylists for employment in this expanding industry and provides young, energetic stylists with an abundance of career opportunities.
