This course will introduce you to a range of hairdressing skills and technical knowledge.

This course will introduce you to a range of hairdressing skills and technical knowledge.
You will study:
Shampooing and conditioning
Conditioning treatments
A variety of setting and dressing techniques
Blow drying
Basic cutting techniques
Basic colouring techniques including foiling
Plaiting and twisting
Hairdressing Theory
Customer Service
Health and Safety
Promotion of products and services.
Alongside these vocational subjects students will be expected to undertake:
Industry related work placements
Maths and English (dependant on prior grades)
Character Development
Independent study where students will undertake learning to enhance their understanding of the vocationally related theory.
Charity, community and voluntary events often related to Hair and Beauty which may be in addition to your timetabled hours.
Seminars, workshops with industry employers and suppliers
Trips and visits (Costs TBC).
You will take paying clients to gain the widest possible range of experiences and employability skills. As in a professional salon, students will be expected to give our clients the highest possible customer care and portray a professional image and are required to wear a salon uniform whilst in the salons.

Typical Entry Criteria
Three GCSE subjects at Grade 3 and above:
Gloucestershire College welcome any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.
For 19+ applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at the College’s discretion.
