Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.
At around age 7 or 8, boys move from Junior Funky Moves into Boys Street (I) and Grade 1 Modern to further improve their dance skills and to start learning basic dance technique. It is compulsory to learn both modern and street together.
Hip-hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music, that evolved from the hip-hop culture. The first dance associated with hip-hop was break dancing. While breakdancing consists primarily of moves executed close to the ground, the majority of hip-hop moves are performed standing up.
Street Dance encorporates various dance styles including hip hop and funk styles such as popping and locking.
