Elizabeth Chayer opened American Dance Institute in Anchorage, Alaska in 1986 as an outreach program that taught dance in day care centers, preschools and community centers. She, and husband Steve, moved to
Seattle in 1989 and Elizabeth started American Dance Institute Seattle that same year. For three years she managed both locations before focusing all efforts on her fast-growing Seattle operation.
Students learn the foundations of hip hop dance, demonstrating how the style has evolved. Students build flexibility, endurance, balance, and confidence as they create choreography and work toward proficiency and ease in improvising with style.

This class expands upon basic hip hop principles and expands to encompass a wide variety of hip hop styles. As a class, you will explore the differences from smooth R&B style all the way from jerking or even J-setting
Teaches the basic principles of hip-hop dance and teaches age-appropriate choreography featured in today's popular music videos. Students will learn: basic footwork, freezes, popping and locking drills, basic breaking, and new school hip-hop moves
Students will develop coordination, build self-esteem and learn how to interpret the music to develop their own freestyle movement.
