What separates hip hop dance from other forms of dance is that it is often freestyle in nature. Here, students are schooled in the history of the hip hop culture, and given a solid foundation in all aspects.
Deborah Mason is the founder and executive director of the Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center (DMPAC), formerly the Deborah Mason School of Dance (DMSD). A lifelong Cambridge, MA resident and community activist, Deborah founded DMSD in 1975.
Hip Hop I is for ages 6-8 and Hip Hop II is for ages 9-12. These are great classes where children can be themselves and develop their own styles and movement. Students learn the basics of hip hop, including aspects of break dancing and video movement
Advanced Hip Hop (ages 8 & up) classes are offered by Nieves Latin Dance Studio. All Children are required to wear their uniforms to class.
