Founded in 1978, the Jennifer Evans Dance Academy is an established learning centre. Jennifer's dancing career was set for success when she graduated from the Australian Ballet School. First, she joined Dance Company New South Wales (a classical and contemporary company), then she moved to the Queensland Ballet Company where she danced as a soloist. Jennifer then returned home to join the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company.
These years of professional training and performing are what set the Jennifer Evans Dance Academy aside. However, Jennifer hasn't rested on her laurels, she has a fantastic team of talented teachers that specialise in the more modern styles, such as Jazz, Contemporary, Tap and Hip-Hop.
With studios in Karori and Khandallah, the majority of the classes are held at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School. Boasting facilities that mirror that of a professional level, there's a focus on creating a friendly, safe and progressive environment. Examinations, seminars holidays programs, choreographic opportunities and stage productions are available annually.
Hip Hop is a free, stylised form of dance which is primarily performed to Hip Hop Music.
Hip-hop is ideal for those who love a relaxed environment where you can express yourself freely and move with the beat.
Students will be part of a team performing all styles of hip-hop. There are opportunities for the group
Hip Hop is taught in the modern classes after the mid-year exams. These examinations are held early November.
This powerful, high-energy dance style relies on a punchy beat and a little bit of attitude!
