A proper homemade pizza on the table before even the fastest of takeaways can get to you? It sounds too good to be true, right?

I love making pizza from scratch, but I bet that I’m not the only one that doesn’t always have all of the necessary ingredients in the cupboard when a sudden pizza craving strikes?

Luckily, I have the perfect super quick and simple recipe solution, which means you can have a delicious pizza on the table within mere minutes!

And it’s so easy that even the youngest members of the family can join in. I promise you that pizza nights will never be the same again!

Oh, just remember… try to resist the temptation to overload your pizza. Too many toppings can make your pizza base soggy, rather than crispy and nobody wants a soggy pizza.

For the Base:

  • 400g plain flour
  • 1 x 7g sachet fast action dried yeast
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tsp caster sugar
  • 2tbsp olive oil
  • 225ml water
  • 1tbsp semolina

For the Toppings:

  • 3–4tbsp pizza sauce
  • 130g mozzarella cheese
  • 1tsp dried oregano
  • Additional toppings of your choice

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your oven to 240°C/220°C fan/gas 9 and place two baking trays inside to heat up.
  • Add the flour, yeast, salt and sugar to a large mixing bowl and loosely mix together by hand.
  • Make a well in the centre and add the oil and the water to bring together as a dough.
  • Tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 1 minute, just until smooth.
  • Place the dough under the upturned bowl to rest while you prepare your toppings.
  • When you are ready to assemble your pizzas, divide the dough into two equal portions.
  • Roll out each ball on a lightly floured surface, to about 25cm in diameter.
  • Sprinkle a large square of baking paper with the semolina and lift one of the portions of dough onto the paper.
  • Continue to shape the pizza dough with your fingertips until it is about 30cm in diameter.
  • Spread the pizza with the sauce and add the cheese, before adding any additional toppings and sprinkling with oregano.
  • Repeat steps 8-10 for the second ball of dough.
  • Slide the pizzas on their baking paper onto the preheated baking trays.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes until the base is golden and crisp.

Pizza & Ciabatta Making Day

I believe that hands-on cooking classes are the best way to learn new skills in the kitchen. I know how much the British public love watching cookery programmes and reading food magazines but I’m also aware that many are daunted at the prospect of having a go themselves
