Whether an experienced rider or a total novice, whatever your age, riding is a sport for all.
We offer lessons to both adults and children. We specialise in teaching children from the age of 6 years, and our lovely kind ponies are perfectly suited to beginners. We also have a range of bigger horses for teenage and adult riders, and we can cater for all levels.
Hyde Park is a unique place to be able to learn to ride, and we are fortunate that we can offer lessons both in the Park and in the outdoor arenas.
Most of our riding takes place on the sand tracks in Hyde Park, where you can enjoy 5 miles of well-maintained trails around the perimeter of the Park. These include the famous Rotten Row, the best known riding track in the world, where you will often see some of the Household Cavalry horses taking part in exercises and drill rides.
There are also two outdoor arenas inside the Park, which we use for more formal lessons for our more experienced riders, and for Pony Club Activity Days, jumping events and our annual Horse Show.
Helmets and boots are available for hire at no extra charge.
Should you decide to get your own equipment, we can offer advice about what you would need and the best place to buy riding clothes.
Ross Nye grew up in Queensland, Australia, and worked on a cattle station with his brother for ten years. They rode all day long over very rough country, and were involved in all aspects of horse care - from breeding to breaking in, from mustering cattle to picnic races.
When he moved to London, he was able to take over a small existing riding school, and to start his career as a fantastic teacher. He has inspired adults and children alike for over 50 years.
Up until his death in 2020, through his enthusiasm, his emphasis on safety and correct work practices, and his genuine belief that everyone can benefit from learning to ride.
Spending time with horses will help you to develop on physical, mental, and psychological levels - and you can share the privilege of riding in Hyde Park, and enjoy the history of Central London.
We also have a horse simulator for all our riders, from beginners to get the basics of horse riding to experienced riders looking to improve their technique.
Being interactive outdoors and in nature has huge benefits on both our physical and mental wellbeing and it’s not all about being in the saddle at Ealing Riding School. We have a full programme of activities taking place in our Gallivanters Stable Meadow which do not necessarily involve riding.
Getting on a horse for the first time can be a daunting experience. The life sized fully interactive EQUICISE horse simulator is invaluable for introducing you to horse riding.
