Industrial Lift Truck Operation

The course provides participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to recognize potential hazards, perform circle checks, monitor vehicle performance and carry out the safe operation of various lift trucks.

Participants will learn about safe operating habits for clamp trucks, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, low lift pallet trucks and scissor lifts. A written examination is included. 

The course is divided into three sections:

Core modules:

• Lift truck types, designations and areas of use

• Legislated requirements

• Principles of counterbalance

• Circle check

• Safe operating habits

Power Supply:

• Awareness in propane handling and battery care

Vehicle operation:

• Forklift

• Skid-steer loader (where applicable)

Intended Audience: 

The course is intended for both experienced and new operators of forklifts.
