This is an ideal opportunity to learn how to make patterns, using your own or standard body measurements. You will learn how to take accurate measurements. You will learn how to draft a basic skirt block, bodice block, dress block and sleeve block. You will make up the items in calico (as toiles) to try on and test, making any necessary alterations.
You will then move onto the design aspect of the course, where you will learn how to change the basic blocks into style lines; learning the basics of how to adapt these basic blocks into a variety of styles by moving darts into seams and style lines, make gathers, pleats, and more.
You will build up a portfolio of pattern cutting techniques for fashion design. You will leave with your basic blocks, patterns, and portfolio of designs.
