DurationIn this class we will learn the in’s & out’s of woodcut printmaking! We will draw, carve, and print our own woodcut designs. Students will learn how to use wood carving tools as well as how to set the gauges of an etching press and operate the press to produce prints off of their wood blocks.
We will carve MDF using V & U gauges and learn various color printing techniques such as Chine Colle? and Multi Block printing.
We have been providing visual arts classes to students of all skill levels and experience for over 50 years. CAC has become a top adult art education destinations within the North Texas area serving a range of students from teenagers to senior citizens and beginning to emerging artists.
Last year 1,500 students took more than 500 classes and workshops at CAC in ceramics, clay sculpture, drawing, fiber, fused glass, jewelry, metal sculpture, mixed media, mosaic, painting, printmaking and stone sculpture.
The majority of our teaching artists hold a Bachelor or Master of Fine Arts and have exhibited widely.
This course is designed for the beginning wood turner. All students receive demonstrations on how to prepare a wood blank for spindle turning, how to glue up wood properly for success during turning, machine and tool vocabulary and safety
Looking to start a career in woodworking, but not sure how to get started? Or looking to start woodworking as a hobby and want an intense jump start to overcome a lot of the initial hurdles? Either way, this class is a great place to start.
Starting with rough hewn boards, students move through all the main machines in the shop. We cover jointing, planing and spend a good amount of time on the table saw.
The Hand Tools training is a Level 1 Woodworking training that familiarizes users with a variety of saws, hammers, drills, and drivers! After this training, users are able to use any of the tools on the tool wall displays in the Hatchery Makerspace and the Hatchery Prototyping Studio.
In this class you will learn the basics of woodworking. You’ll learn how to cut, sand, glue up, and finish. You’ll also be able to take the project home that you begin.
