In this class we will learn the in’s & out’s of woodcut printmaking! We will draw, carve, and print our own woodcut designs. Students will learn how to use wood carving tools as well as how to set the gauges of an etching press and operate the press to produce prints off of their wood blocks.
We will carve MDF using V & U gauges and learn various color printing techniques such as Chine Colle? and Multi Block printing.
We have been providing visual arts classes to students of all skill levels and experience for over 50 years. CAC has become a top adult art education destinations within the North Texas area serving a range of students from teenagers to senior citizens and beginning to emerging artists.
Last year 1,500 students took more than 500 classes and workshops at CAC in ceramics, clay sculpture, drawing, fiber, fused glass, jewelry, metal sculpture, mixed media, mosaic, painting, printmaking and stone sculpture.
The majority of our teaching artists hold a Bachelor or Master of Fine Arts and have exhibited widely.
This course is an introduction to the woodworking tools available for member use at Phoenix Forge. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of shop safety and procedures as well as best practices for a majority of the stationary power tools.
This is the course designed for people with no prior woodworking experience. Through discussion and hands on experience you will learn about the steps necessary to begin with a rough piece of wood and finish with a small table of your own design. The class will meet for six weekly sessions.
This course will help students to develop creative, technical and problem-solving skills in woodworking and metalworking techniques in a sculptural context.
Introduction to Woodworking is a nine week course that serves as the preliminary class in our three course furniture making series. Here you will have an opportunity to learn about the characteristics of wood and the basic principals of woodworking through lectures
In this workshop, students will learn the basics of kumiko, including the use of hand tools to cut the pieces and assemble the frame. Each student will work on a small project to finish and take home.
